POSITION OVERVIEW AND PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS):

The Custodial Supervisor will be responsible for directing and supervising the custodial operations to ensure the custodial staff has the appropriate equipment and resources to perform their jobs and meet contract goals and deadlines. Provide expertise to the cleaning team on cleaning and sanitizing procedures, as well as environmental cleaning processes and procedures.  Ensures the custodial staff safely uses cleaning solutions while engaged in work tasks. Ensures custodial operations meet performance standards detailed in the contract Statement of Work for the Custodial Services contract at Andrews Airforce Base (CN FA286023C0018).

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Plan, schedule, coordinate, train, supervise, and ensure effective performance and completion of all contract requirements.
  • Ensures that the quality of custodial services meets established guidelines by inspecting the work of custodial personnel and directing corrective measures to be taken when necessary to meet those guidelines.
  • Schedule the custodial staff, in sufficient quantity to accomplish all cleaning tasks within confines of budget, remedial services, and quality control inspections. Coordinate with employees to produce work schedule in advance of work requirements.
  • Direct and supervise the daily activities of a mixed workforce of full-time, part-time Custodians, as well subcontractor support staff.
  • Provide cleaning services as required to ensure contract requirements are met.
  • Assist custodial personnel by instructing all employees in the proper methods and use of materials and equipment for safe and efficient work performance, evaluating individual performances to meet established standards, providing require performance evaluations on custodial personnel and making recommendations regarding the retention of new employees.
  • Track, inventory and reorder all supplies and equipment as needed and in a timely manner, analyzing for efficiency Orders and picks up materials and supplies from outside vendors as appropriate.
  • Reports need for major repairs/maintenance to Facilities staff.
  • Maintains records of work performed and materials used.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

 

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
  • High School diploma/GED; AND four (4) years of experience in custodial operations; OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. 
  • Maintain Top Secret Security Clearance (Yankee White)

 

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Principles and practices of employee supervision, including selection, work planning, organization, performance review and evaluation, and employee training and discipline.
  • Principles, methods and materials used in custodial maintenance.
  • Proper cleaning methods, and the safe usage of cleaning materials, disinfectants, custodial tools and equipment.
  • Procedures for the preparation and use of cleaning materials. Use and minor maintenance of hand and power tools and equipment used in custodial work.
  • Safe work methods and safety regulations pertaining to the work.
  • Basic record keeping practices.
  • Standard office practices and procedures, including filing and the operation of standard office equipment.
  • Planning, directing and reviewing the work of others on a project or day-to-day basis.
  • Performing custodial duties.
  • Operating and maintaining specialized tools and equipment.
  • Training others in policies and procedures related to the work.
  • Inspecting work and ensuring that quality standards are met.
  • Safely using chemicals/solvents related to the work.
  • Communicating effectively in oral and written forms.
  • Maintaining accurate records of work performed.
  • Using initiative and independent judgment within established procedural guidelines.
  • Contributing effectively to the accomplishment of team or work unit goals, objectives and activities.
