Purpose of Position | The program coordinator works in close coordination with the Assistant Provost to develop, support, and operate community engagement initiatives. The purpose of this position is to be an active team player in the Scripps Howard Center for Civic Engagement in developing and executing programs and events that engage NKU classes and students with community partners — providing benefits to both. |
Primary Responsibilities | The coordinator’s primary responsibility is to support, as assigned, specific programs, program aspects, or special initiatives. Support includes:

Programming in the Scripps Howard Center for Civic Engagement is varied and dynamic. With that in mind, the person hired for this position should be creative, flexible, and well-organized. The Center’s primary community engagement programming includes support of service learning classes, operation of NKU’s Mayerson Student Philanthropy Project, voter registration and education, a public lecture series, and a variety of collaborations with campus and community partners that foster NKU’s goal to encourage students to be stewards of place. |
Qualifications | The ideal candidate for this job would have substantive experience in higher education and with the community and civic engagement. The candidate should have a passion for connecting our classrooms to community projects that further both students’ academic learning, their commitment to citizenship and democracy, and their commitment to being stewards of place. A strong commitment to teamwork within the office, across campus, and with community collaborators is essential to this position.
