Our Ship Design Team in Washington, DC is looking for you!

As a Journeyman Marine Auxiliary Engineer you will:

  • Work within the Maritime Lifecycle Readiness Division to provide engineering support to the United States Coast Guard – Ship Design Team Headquarters DC.

A week in the life of a Journeyman Marine Auxiliary Engineer:

  • Assist in design, development, and evaluation of the operation of Auxiliary marine systems, ship machinery, and related equipment, such as HM&E, HVAC&R, piping systems, etc
  • Support the US Coast Guard reviewing third party design modifications and improvements to mechanical systems and components.
  • Perform design reviews, evaluating constructability, helping resolve technical issues, and managing information generated through the design and construction phases.
  • Conduct analyses of various auxiliary systems, lead development of technical data packages and reviews. 
  • Conduct trade studies regarding auxiliary system configuration.
  • Conduct marine engineering analysis.
  • Create graphical representations of structures and systems.
  • Inspect auxiliary equipment or systems.
  • Assist in research of advanced engineering designs or applications.
  • Prepare technical reports for internal use.
Job Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
  • Ability to obtain a secret clearance

At least 5+ years of experience:

  • Progressively responsible experience in marine specific fields (i.e. auxiliary systems, piping systems, fluids and hydraulics)
  • Working with Microsoft Office suite
  • Experience with Auto-CAD
  • Familiarity with ABS, NVR, and commercial ship design rules and regulations.

AMERICAN SYSTEMS is committed to pay transparency for our applicants and employee-owners.  The salary range for this position is $100,000 - $110,000.
