Purpose of Position
The Head Men’s Volleyball Coach reports directly to the Sr. Associate Athletic Director or Internal Operations and is responsible for the organization and administration of the Men’s Volleyball program in accordance of the University and NCAA.

The Head Men’s Volleyball Coach must commit to developing a competitive NCAA Division I Men’s Volleyball program while maintaining an emphasis on the academic success of the student-athlete. The Head Men’s Volleyball Coach will be expected to administer the program in a manner that promotes the health, safety, and welfare of the student-athlete. 

Compliance with NCAA rules is of the utmost importance at Northern Kentucky University. As a member of the athletics department staff, it is expected that the Head Men’s Volleyball Coach will have a full understanding of the NCAA rules that pertain to the position. The Head Men’s Volleyball Coach is also expected to comply with all NCAA rules. If he/she becomes aware, or has reasonable cause to believe, that a violation of a rule has occurred, he/she will immediately report it to the direct supervisor or Director of Athletics. 
Primary Responsibilities
Planning, coordinating and implementing in-season practices, including team and individual workouts. Planning, coordination and implementation of out-of-season practices, including individual skill instruction and team workouts, focusing on the development of athletic skills to compete at the Division I level.

Planning and implementation of game plans for each game/meet, including video breakdown and development of scouting reports of opponents

Recruit student-athletes in accordance with NCAA regulations and academic standards, as well as university academic requirements. Ensure recruiting numbers are where they need to be, working with Sport supervisor in setting these goals.

Establish procedures to monitor the academics of each of the Men’s Volleyball student-athletes. Effectively communicate with Athletics Academic Advisor to ensure any academic concerns are being addressed.

Complete all necessary compliance forms as required and/or requested by the Athletics Compliance Office.

Monitoring of budget to ensure the Men’s Volleyball program is fiscally responsible and expenditures are within budget allocation.

Participate in fundraising activities for the Men’s Volleyball program and/or the Department of Athletics. Be actively engaged within the University, as well as the surrounding communities.

Coordinate strength and conditioning program with the assigned Strength and Conditioning Coach. Prepare game schedule on an annual basis Comply with NKU, conference and NCAA rules and regulations. 

Hire and evaluate Assistant Men’s Volleyball Coach
Qualifications
Good organizational skills, communication skills, and interpersonal skills. Displays leadership skills and uses tact.

Motivated, display integrity and professionalism. Loyal and uses fairness and equitable in the treatment of others.

Displays public relations skills and promotes Northern Kentucky University Women’s Volleyball Program.

Minimum five years of related coaching experience. Strong consideration will be given to previous playing experiences and Division I coaching.
