Purpose of Position | To provide customer services to the university community by ensuring clean and aesthetically pleasing floor coverings throughout the campus buildings. POSITION OPEN UNTIL FILLED. |
Primary Responsibilities | Provide floor cleaning services including stripping, waxing, spraying, scrubbing, and shampooing to maintain a wide variety of floor types and coverings. Practice safe and proper use of related equipment and supplies. Surfaces cleaned across campus include carpet, wood, concrete, terrazzo, ceramic, quarry, vinyl tile, synthetic slate, cobblestone, rubber, parquet, etc. Test new floor care products/equipment and makes recommendations regarding same. Will occasionally assist Labor Crew with special moves or events. Respond to emergency trouble calls, i.e. water main breaks, storm damage, etc. Remove trash from tunnel area. Work schedule, including hours and days, are subject to change to meet the needs of the department and University. |
Qualifications | High school/GED required; Prefer vocational/specialized training in floor care maintenance or related field with 6 months experience. Must possess: 1.Valid driver’s license; 2.Basic computer skills; 3.The ability to frequently perform medium heavy to maximum physical exertion; 4. The ability to follow written and/or oral instructions; 5. The ability to stoop, push, pull, reach, bend, twist & reach, work in cramped spaces, climb stairs.
