Job Responsibilities:

The Postdoctoral Research Assistant assists to conceptualize, plan and execute innovative research projects focused on 3-D tissue culture, single cell and spatial biology, histology, and machine learning-assisted imaging analysis. Perform state-of-the-art research in collaboration with staff and lead the initiatives related to the advancements of mucosal disease models. This position is supported by the Volpe Scholar program and is a 2-year grant-funded position.

Must-Have:

  • Doctoral-level degree in health sciences (including biology, chemistry, physics, biomaterials, and engineering)
  • Must have experience in/with research equipment maintenance, and basic biology lab techniques, including histology and/or basic microscopy.
  • Excellent communication skills

  • Knowledge of basic laboratory management practices

  • Ability to plan laboratory management schedule
  • Adaptability to changing requirements
  • Collaborative mindset; open to various viewpoints
  • Attention to detail, and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to maintain quality and safety in a laboratory environment
  • Efficient project planning and scheduling
  • Team player mindset motivated to take on new challenges
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to travel to various locations in Maryland where ADASRI has a presence and attend/give a presentation at scientific conferences (overnight)

Nice to Have:

  • Familiarity with oral health research, virology, immunology, in situ hybridization, immunohistochemistry
  • Publication in pre-print and/or peer-reviewed journals
  • Experience managing activities with external collaborators such as working as part of a team for sample collection, processing, and analysis
