AVIAN is searching for a Software Engineer, Senior to support work in Patuxent River, Maryland.

The incumbent will be part of an Integrated Product Team (IPT) in support of the software development and maintenance of the Core Level Software and Transport Services Segment used on the Mission Computer Alternative (MCA) system.
• The incumbent should have a thorough understanding of software development practices: configuration management, code reviews, unit testing, and continuous integration with at least 5 years of C++ programming experience.
• The incumbent will also develop software to perform IV&V tests on FACE conformant applications on various hardware configurations and be familiar with implementing software practices for DO-178C DAL A compliance.
• The candidate must be a self-starter willing to work with, lead, customers, and train junior engineers, ESDPs, and interns.
• The incumbent must obtain and maintain a SECRET clearance and the ability to obtain a Top Secret in the future.

SENIOR: A Senior level person within a labor category has over 10 years of experience related to the functional duties for that labor category and a MA/MS degree. A Senior level person typically works on high-visibility or mission critical aspects of a given program and performs all functional duties independently. A Senior level person may oversee the efforts of less senior staff and/or be responsible for the efforts of all staff assigned to a specific job.

6 years additional relevant work experience may be substituted for a Bachelor's Degree
Bachelor's Degree plus 4 years additional relevant work experience may be substituted for a Master's

Required experience:

• 5 years of experience with C/C++, python
• Embedded systems software development (avionics preferred)

Desired experience:

• Experience using a variety of integrated development environment (IDE) and test environments (Visual Studio, Qt, Eclipse, etc.)
• Experience with safety-critical Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS) required (VX Works preferred)
• Graphical User Interface (GUI) development experience (Qt preferred and avionics/ARINC 661 experience preferred)
• Secure code experience (DO-178 and MIL-STD-882 preferred)
• Digital engineering experience preferred
• Modular Open Systems Approach (MOSA) standards experience preferred (FACE/ HOST/SOSA/OMS/VICTORY/RedHawk)
