Job Description

The technical writer works closely with software developers, system administrators, project managers and external stakeholders to develop, maintain and improve documentation pertaining to software applications, enterprise architecture, administrator guides, procedures and others as needed. The technical writer creates documentation throughout the full Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and through the life of system administration projects using Agile methodologies.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assist the project team in developing, maintaining and improving technical documentation to include enterprise level and systems documentation, architectural diagrams, procedural documentation, technical guides, software application documentation and other types of documentation as needed
  • Participate in project meetings and scrum activities as needed
  • Collect and translate content from various parties (technical staff, management, vendors) into detailed and well-articulated narratives, including diagrams and process workflows etc.
  • Translate technical information to stakeholders with different levels of experience and responsibility
  • Review and seek approval of documentation deliverables in coordination with the project team and the customer
  • Self-manage and complete deliverables on time and per the customer's requirements
  • Think out of the box and make recommendations for standard templates and documentation process improvement

Job Requirements
  • A minimum of three years of experience as a technical writer. Samples required.
  • Bachelor's degree (required): English, communication, computer science
  • IT industry knowledge including Cloud technologies and Agile methodologies
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a dynamic environment

  • Strong organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills

  • Experience with the Microsoft Office suite, and diagramming tools such as Visio, OmniGraffle

  • Clearance Required: Ability to obtain and maintain a Level 5 Public Trust Clearance
