To that end, we're looking for an experienced and passionate Senior Product Manager to join our team in this moment of rapid expansion and transformation. You will lead the team responsible for accelerating subscription feature development in support of our ambitious subscription goals.
In this role, you will feel competing pressures: to think deeply and move quickly. You will need to transition easily between altitudes, from technical architecture to marketing workflows. You will work in a highly collaborative, cross-functional environment with multiple stakeholders. Your focus will be in continuing to build out our subscriptions product, both in the form of net new core features as well as augmenting existing feature sets, ultimately driving us towards achieving the consumer revenue goals of the organization.
We are seeking someone who:
Can establish and lead end-to-end development of a strategic roadmap, based on deep understanding of the qualitative and quantitative insights within their domain;
Can drive iterative, rapid experimentation and responsively update their roadmap based on results and learnings
Understands the technical concepts behind the core components of our subscription platforms and can communicate the what and why of these technologies to both technical and non-technical people;
Understands the tradeoffs between various implementation paths and can properly balance the need for product speed, flexibility, and stability with the cost of technical debt;
Comfortable communicating and influencing across diverse teams from Engineering & Design, to Marketing and Customer Care;
Understands the importance of user research, data, testing, documentation, and judgment in the product development process;
Can prioritize in a rapidly-changing environment;
Operates with a sense of urgency;
Can step outside their defined role in order to get something done;
Is able to work collaboratively with a cross-functional team
Responsibilities:
Define and lead the subscriptions roadmap, including the strategic approach, key phases of product releases, milestones and deliverables
Identify opportunities for the subscriptions platform based on user needs, competitive analysis, technical capabilities, revenue impact, and input from stakeholders
Ruthlessly prioritize what the team works on and be able to clearly explain why these initiatives are important to our larger company goals
Clearly and effectively communicate the what, the why and the how including, but not limited to major launches, status of roadmap and goals
Build strong cross-departmental collaborative relationships with stakeholders that generate positive feedback (this includes engaging stakeholders in the goal-setting process, defining high-level priorities, keeping them in the loop, and smooth execution)
Scope feature requirements, write use cases, user stories, and specifications for product launches
Monitor key performance metrics, clearly communicate what the numbers represent, and provide insight to drive product development recommendations
Evaluate new vendors and own key vendor relationships
Qualifications:
6 years of product management or technical experience at a media or consumer product focused company.
Track record of data-driven, strategic roadmapping and taking new products from zero to one.
Strong technical background, including knowledge of frontend, backend, infrastructure and mobile application technologies, and experience in an agile environment.
Demonstrated ability leading cross-functional teams
Excellent project management and organizational skills; ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Excellent communication skills, verbal and written, with the ability to converse with business, editorial and technology teams along with senior management
