POSITION SUMMARY:

Sr Computer Applications and Data Engineer

Alkermes is seeking a Sr Computer Applications and Data Engineer to join our Information Technology Project Delivery Team. The ideal candidate will have a blending of application administration and data engineering used in the execution of projects. Core principles of the required skillset are the ability to work in ambiguous solutions, interacting with end users and a strong sense of ownership. This role will be involved in systems and solutions cross the entire business area with a focus on Research & Development Laboratory Systems and Manufacturing Data Systems in a Pharmaceutical company across the Waltham MA, Wilmington OH, and Athlone Ireland, facilities. This role will have experience in some systems used in this space and a strong set of transferrable technical and soft skills that enables them to lead teams and work with outside specialized technical resources on project execution.

ESSENTIAL AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Possess a strong technical, hands-on skillset.
  • Effectively deliver multiple, concurrent projects of varying complexity. Deliver high-quality business solutions on time and on budget.
  • Interpret complex business requirements and translate them into well-designed IT solutions. Develop design documents, project plans, test plans, etc.
  • Act as subject matter expert for assigned applications. Be a trusted advisor on complex solutions and projects, including multi-system integrations.
  • Identify and recommend opportunities for improvement.
  • Provide third-level support as needed
  • Take a leadership role in driving effective collaboration and influencing project stakeholders.
  • Ensure appropriate IT processes, procedures, and standards are in place and followed.
  • Ensure adherence to FDA computer systems validation directives, Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) controls, and personal data security laws (as applicable).
  • Actively develop procedures and train peers on system operations

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Education & Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree Min in a (STEM) field.
  • 3 years of experience in laboratory and research technology applications.
  • Experience leading complex IT projects, project management, and continuous improvement required.
  • Functional and/or technical experience with integrated laboratory systems desired.
  • Experience in the pharmaceutical/biotech industries with an emphasis on Research & Development or Laboratory.

Technical Knowledge/Skills Needed:

  • Deep Knowledge of some of the many systems used in this space
    • LIMS, SLIM, ELN, Benchling, & Empower
    • SCADA, OSI PI, Rockwell Transaction Manager, PAS-X MES, SeaVision, Kepware
    • DataLake technologies, Snowflake, Data Ingestion, Data Warehouse
  • Workflow and production-oriented systems
  • Proven track record in successfully achieving technical deliverables.
  • Ability to respond to shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Accountable and responsible for projects and decisions with minimal consultation.
  • Proficient identifying critical success factors for each project.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong team skills, including facilitating sessions and reaching consensus across a global organization.
  • Ability to initiate and influence others on the best solutions to action.
  • Demonstrated capability to improve business processes.
  • Creative problem solver.
