Quartz is seeking an (Associate) Data Automation Operations Engineer to join our Data Warehouse Team. This position will collaborate with the Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) Team, IT staff, and various business units to design, develop, and deliver applications to automate end to end processes. This role will analyze process requirements, work across teams and with vendors to ensure data delivery and data encryption standards are met for all scheduled and ad-hoc data flows. This role will also be responsible for the design, development, and maintenance of automated processes that support our EDW, data marts, outbound delivery, and integration with other applications. This position will also provide support and monitoring for automation systems during core business hours and after hours as needed.

  • Starting salary based upon skills and experience of candidate - $56,000 - 64,000; open to considering Intermediate level candidates based upon skills and experience
Responsibilities
  • Own and update system components that automate workflows, encryption, delivery, and integration of internal applications, and other business processes as needed:
    • Translate process requirements into technical process design
    • Develop automated workflows and basic to moderately complex custom scripts to support the EDW, data marts, outbound data delivery, and integration with other applications.
    • Execute process simulations and perform unit testing of own work. Perform code review for peers.
    • Create supporting documentation for new automation processes and prepare final process documentation for product deployments.
    • Provide support/monitoring for automation systems during core business hours and after hours as needed. Handle planned and unplanned outages.
  • Basic complexity process automation development and solution delivery. Work closely with EDM Teams to gain and understanding of the business process:
    • Use custom scripting, workload automation and file transfer tools to develop and test end to end process automation.
    • Develop and maintain automated test scripts used in deployment between environments.
    • Provision and deploy lower-level environments as a part of quarterly SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle)
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field with 0+ years of information technology experience

OR

  • Associate degree in Computer Science or related field with 3+ years of information technology experience in process automation, automation script development, and/or translating business requirements into technical solutions
  • Experience with process automation, automation script development, and translating business requirements into technical solutions is preferred
  • For Intermediate Level -
    • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field with 3+ years of information technology experience in process automation, automation script development, and/or translating business requirements into technical solutions

OR

    • Associate degree in Computer Science or related field with 6+ years of information technology experience in process automation, automation script development, and/or translating business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Strong communication skills with a passion for bridging the gap between business and technical users
  • Experience with requirements and process documentation
  • Basic experience with some components of enterprise architecture including file transfer and encryption, databases, networking, application servers
  • Effective problem solving and analytical skills
  • Basic knowledge of scripting languages (shell scripting, batch scripting, JavaScript, Python, etc)
  • Intermediate knowledge of transmission protocols (XML, JSON, SMTP, SFTP, EDI)
  • Basic knowledge of APIs including REST
  • Basic experience with scheduling, automation tools, and managed file transfer tools
  • Basic knowledge of CI/CD and DevOps tools
  • Exposure to data acquisition and ingestion process and tools
  • Effective interaction with internal and external parties, including vendors and contractors
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver results in a timely manner
  • Ability to work independently, under pressure, and be adaptable to change
  • Ability to participate in on-call rotation

This position may work remotely but will be required to report to our office in Madison, WI, as needed. Hardware and equipment will be provided by the company, but candidates must have access to high-speed, non-satellite Internet to successfully work from home.
