Overview

AVIAN is seeking a Senior Aviation Systems Engineer to support The Mission Integration and Special Programs Office.

Responsibilities
    Support the execution of advanced development research and development (R&D) programs. Work with customers to develop new capabilities, define gaps, derive requirements, and develop project task descriptions, specifications, integrated roadmaps, and detailed schedules. Support and coordinate technical reviews, data analysis and reports, and monitor and report team and contract status/execution. Support the development of acquisition and technical documentation. Serve as the avionics systems engineering, sensor tracking, data fusion and fire control focal point for coordination of technical project status and task execution throughout the design, engineering, integration, test and program execution process. Analyze contractor proposals as permitted by law and regulation. Develop, execute, monitor and report status on several assigned project task efforts including analysis of test data.
  • Serve as the systems engineer for team project technical execution, coordination, risk management and communication of concerns and issues with program management and technical leadership. Coordinate functions between government and contractor project leads and engineers along with the operational subject matter experts, warfighters, and military leaders involved in program planning and execution.
  • Support and provide insight to determine the effectiveness of project execution and recommend modifications to task processes for future project activities or design reviews. Work with the Project management and Task Lead(s) to develop out year planning for future capabilities and provide input to roadmaps for analysis, risk reduction, development and integration of advanced capabilities.
  • Significant (20% to 30%) travel is required for this position.
Qualifications

Required Experience & Skills:

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Systems, Electrical Engineering or related field from an accredited college or university. Experience cannot be substituted for education.
  • Experience: Candidate must have at least 10 years of experience in Avionics Systems and/or Sensor Systems Engineering, and Aviation Systems engineering and requirements development processes.

Desired Experience and Skills:

  • Candidate should be proficient in all Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Candidate should have experience with Microsoft Project and similar resources scheduling tools.
  • Candidate should have demonstrated good oral and written communication skills.
  • Candidate should have experience coordinating operations across multiple organizational boundaries.
  • Candidate should have experience working in a dynamic, schedule constrained, complex security environment.

Clearance Requirement: A current SSBI or Federal Investigative Standard Tier 5 (T5) or Tier 5 Reinvestigation (T5R) within the last 6 years. A final DoD Top Secret clearance. Eligibility for access to Sensitive Compartment Information (SCI) in accordance with Intelligence Community Directive (ICD) 704 and Special Access Program (SAP) in accordance with SAP Nomination Policy (SAPNP) with no disqualifying security issues that will deem a candidate ineligible for access.
