Work Schedule
Flexible, 10-15 hours per week between 8:30am-4:00 pm Monday- Friday. Work at home protocols stemming from COVID restrictions may add additional flexibility. Some tasks for this internship can be completed remotely and outside of business hours.
Job Description
This student intern will be responsible for working with the Center for Civic Engagement on campus-wide election initiatives during the spring semester.

There is a possibility the position will be extended for Fall 2022.
Primary Responsibilities
This position will lead the organizing and implementation of election-related programming including but not limited to voter registration, dialogues on current issues, poll worker recruitment, and Kids Voting in area middle and high schools.

It is critical to think about this programming from a campus-wide perspective with the key focus on student engagement.

Creative additions to our programming are encouraged.
Qualifications
The ideal person for this position will have a passion for current events and public affairs combined with an understanding of the electoral process, as well as skills that translate well for event planning.

It is important for this person to put aside personal political beliefs to further the cause of educating students about elections and voter participation.

While traditional communication methods (press releases, posters, etc.) will be part of the promotional efforts, be prepared to also blog, use various social media platforms, and have face-to-face exchanges at information tables and events. Writing and communication skills are important but the ability to organize events and recruit volunteers quickly matters, too.
