Pay Range: $39.90/hr - $42.00/hr

Location: Muskegon Service Center

Job Summary

THIS POSITION IS REPRESENTED BY LOCAL 70C INTERNATIONAL CHEMICAL WORKERS UNION COUNCIL BARGAINING UNIT.

Employees with bidding restrictions on their current position should not apply. Supervisors are responsible for notifying the Staffing Specialist if an employee is restricted from bidding on open positions.

Key Accountabilities

Shall be able to perform the following described duties;
* Act as a Garage lead man
* Be capable of acting as a group leader directing the activities of lower classified employees in the absence of supervision (these employees are not to be considered supervisors for the purpose of administering discipline or judging the performance of other bargaining unit members)
* Keep proper records
* Possess a thorough knowledge of all operational activities involving transportation and direct that knowledge toward the most economical and efficient fleet operation
* Make complete diagnosis of vehicle performance and the determination of necessary repairs, arc and acetylene cutting and welding, all repairs to work tools and equipment.
* Use of all tools necessary to carry out designated duties; including body repairs and maintenance, performance adjustments, and preventative maintenance inspections
* Washing, refueling, lubricating and driving Company vehicles
* Conduct vehicle inventory.
* The Transportation Leader may also be called upon to assist the Stock Division in the duties of the Stock Division when the need arises.
* All L70 Collective Bargaining Agreements apply.

Qualifications

* Must Have a high school diploma or GED
* Must possess a valid operators and Group A Commercial Driver's License (CDLA) with Air Brake Endorsement.
* All Transportation Division employees must have the following State of Michigan Mechanics Certification and possess a valid CDL license upon entry into the Transportation Division.
* Certifications:
* Automobiles and Light Trucks
* Brakes and Braking System
* Front-end, Suspension and Steering System
* Electrical Systems
* Manual Transmission
* Automatic Transmission
* Engine Tune-up/Performance
* Engine Repair
* Heating and Air Conditioning
* Heavy Duty Trucks (over 10,000 lbs. GVW)
* Brakes and Braking System
* Suspension and Steering Systems
* Electrical Systems
* Engine Repair - Gasoline
* Engine Repair - Diesel
* Drive Train
* Able to understand written and oral instructions.
* Successful candidate(s) must pass the DOT Drug Test and DOT Physical
* Successful candidate(s) must complete a Background Check


PREFERRED Qualifications:
-Possess current MI CDL A
-Four years of full time documented Automotive Mechanic experience in engines, transmissions, suspensions, electrical systems and brakes or completion of an Automotive Technology program at a college, university, community college or trade school that is recognized by DTE, plus two to three years of documented Automotive experience
