Consulting Market Research Specialist - Growth, Marketing & Sales Solutions, Periscope
Who You'll Work With
You will be based in one of our offices in North America as part of the Growth, Marketing & Sales Solutions team of Periscope. You will work with our agile Insights Solution that is aimed at developing and providing software-based solutions to help companies achieve above-market growth rates by identifying, enabling, and sustaining best-practice commercial operations.
Founded in 2007, Periscope by McKinsey enables better commercial decisions by uncovering actionable insights. The Periscope platform combines world-leading intellectual property, prescriptive analytics, and cloud-based tools to provide more than 25 solutions focused on commercial excellence, including sales, pricing, customer insights and marketing.
Periscope experts work closely with clients to embed these solutions into operational IT environments, and work closely with McKinsey's Growth, Marketing & Sales consultants to transform client business processes to deliver revenue growth both now and in the future. What You'll Do
You will support the development of the content expertise (assets, knowledge, tools) and deliver that expertise to both client project teams and directly to clients.
In your role, you will independently solve client problems in your area of expertise and develop specialized skills within the content area. The majority of your time will be spent on client-facing engagements, scoping surveys, configuring/writing survey text, managing the service delivery process through programming and fielding, and working with McKinsey Solutions analysts to interpret surveys. You will be involved with client engagements by being a part of the client project team, leading a workstream in your area of expertise or providing short-term support delivering key insights in content-focused questions.
You will elicit client/team strategic objectives and translate those into research objectives. You will also write surveys end to end that address market research objectives that include capturing nuances in surveys, assessing vendor options, identifying strengths and best fit for each situation. Lastly, you will create a storyline from a survey output and work with analysts to translate data into insights.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree; master's degree preferred
  • 6+ years of market research skills with a strong emphasis on quantitative experience and consumer and shopper insights; background at a market research agency or a research department at a consumer-oriented company preferred
  • Well versed in usage and attitude measurement, brand equity measurement, concept testing, product testing, segmentation, etc.
  • Superior analytical thinking skills with the ability to synthesize complex information and derive insights
  • Highly developed understanding of relevant content area (e.g., industry sector, functional topic)
  • Advanced business knowledge and ability to translate research objectives into business objectives
  • Full understanding of research techniques, information sources and statistical analysis/analytic techniques as relevant to role
  • Solid problem-solving skills; consistently delivers exceptional results and great ideas
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and deliver results on time
  • Clear and precise communicator including excellent business writing skills
  • Comfortable working with statistical software packages
  • Ethnography background and one-on-one interviewing skills a plus
  • Highly organized, resourceful, and able to prioritize among competing demands
  • Outstanding interpersonal and influencing skills; ability to work independently and collaboratively on teams and with people at all levels
  • Ability to travel as needed

A reasonable estimate of the range for new joiners for this role in the United States is $131,100 - $135,000. Certain roles are also eligible for bonuses, subject to McKinseyis discretion and based on factors such as individual and/or organizational performance.
