People & HR Compensation Market Intelligence, Expert
Who You'll Work With
You will be based in our Atlanta, Boston Washington, DC or New York office as part of the Compensation Market Intelligence team within the Global Compensation Function (GCF).
You will apply your compensation expertise by becoming an integral member of McKinsey's compensation market intelligence team. This service line within the global compensation function is responsible for keeping a pulse on the external market in support of our efforts to attract and retain the best talent and uphold the Firm's value of creating an unrivaled environment for exceptional people. From assessing the pay for a specific consulting population to leading a cross-cutting high-impact special project, the team serves and partners with the Firm's various compensation teams and other internal stakeholders and leaders to deliver results. You will bring your problem-solving orientation and external perspective, implementing best practices aligned with the Firm's values to drive change and execute key priorities.

What You'll Do
You will lead market assessment projects to analyze our pay positioning for a set of roles or geographies.
You will ensure we have a pulse of market compensation across our talent profiles.
You will engage with leading global compensation consulting and search firms for external data and insights.
You will collaborate with other internal functions and compensation leaders around the world to serve as thought partners and help them solve problems implement new ideas.
You will develop alternative models and approaches to analyze specific compensation elements and broader compensation programs.
You will conduct planned and ad-hoc analyses in support of high-level compensation initiatives for the Firm's Compensation Policy Committee.
Qualifications
  • 7+ years of human resources and compensation experience
  • Bachelor's degree; master's degree preferred
  • Experience in an in-house compensation team or as a compensation consultant for external clients
  • Familiarity with compensation projects such as pay philosophy review, benchmarking analyses, range development, job architecture, incentive design, performance management linkage to compensation, comp due diligence in M&A, comp committee materials prep, market pricing and proxy analyses
  • Stellar analytical capability and Microsoft Excel proficiency; adeptness in translating data to insights
  • Ability to interact as a peer to firm Partners through strong communication skills
  • Aptitude for steering projects from ideation through execution in a dynamic, exciting environment
