JobDetails:

Serve as an Integrated Information Management Systems - Information Technology Support Services (IIMS-ITSS) contract's Network Engineer Journeyman for the JSSC at the Pentagon, Washington DC responsible for managing the functionality and efficiency of the network infrastructure supporting the JSSC to include providing network administration, hardware/software upgrades, backups and physical infrastructure installation

Essential Functions / Responsibilities:

  • Provide high level technical network infrastructure and administrative support for the Cisco/Juniper based Local Area Network (LAN), and Wide Area Network (WAN), wireless network systems supporting voice and data services, and associated auxiliary equipment supporting JSSC operations to include configuring and maintaining routers, switches, firewall devices and associated network equipment and services
  • Ability to support essential network administration functions across a matrixed team of technicians to include both government and contractor
  • Set up and maintain multiple and diverse sets of equipment, and configurations/privilege sets including Access Control Lists (ACL), and Virtual Local Area Networks (VLAN)
  • Attend and actively participate in Change and Config Control functions, and implement Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIG) in direct support of Information Assurance Vulnerability Management (IAVM)
  • Analyze diagnostics of applications, system and vendor software, and operate with appreciable latitude in resolving operating system/application system performance/challenges,
  • Administer/execute network utilities, system and vendor software, monitor/tune network performance, conduct hardware/software upgrades/installations/maintenance and perform network backups
  • Troubleshoot and actively work incident management responses related to network-based systems, related tool sets and unique customer requirements, complete proper documentation, and follow through to develop strategies, policies, procedures to enhancement the overall performance/capabilities of the supported networks
  • Exercise sound independent judgement in developing methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria associated with obtaining results under this contract, identify upgrade needs, and anticipate customer requirements by effectively planning, scheduling, and overseeing system upgrades consulting Network Master and Senior levels
  • Conduct performance monitoring, backups, work as part of a team to provide support when required and support cybersecurity and IA policy efforts to maintain the cybersecurity posture of supported systems, related hardware and support tools
  • Evaluate and recommend use of software, guidelines, procedures, and development of project plans for patch management, version control and network administration tasks based upon technical expertise and may require originality and innovation in determining how to accomplish tasks
  • Interact with outside organizations, customer and contract leadership relating complex technical issues/solutions in a manner to establish a partnership
  • Improve the customer's operating environment by providing expert support while also maintaining the cybersecurity/IA posture of systems/hardware managed/administered for both JSSC and JSSC's customers' assets
  • Compliance with all safety and security requirements, policies, and procedures; worksite access protocols and updates, training requirements, required certifications, and other duties/projects as assigned

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

Required

  1. DoD 8570 Information Assurance Technical Level II (IAT-II) Certification
  2. Bachelor's Degree in IT or related discipline plus 4 years of experience providing network administration/engineering support and or;
  3. 6+ years providing network administration/engineering support in an enterprise network environment ensuring mission success in support of DoD unclassified/classified networking environments;
  4. Equivalent combination of related education and experience may be substituted.
  5. Minimum active Top Secret Clearance with the ability to be Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) indoctrinated
  6. DoD 8570 IAT-II Certification: CompTIA Security+ CE
  7. DoD 8570 CE Certification: CISCO Certified Network Associate (CCNA)

Desired

  1. Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) Version 3 Foundation Certification
