Pharmacy Business Manager

The Business Manager is responsible for developing, monitoring and analyzing business practices of the inpatient pharmacy. This position will work in conjunction with several department leaders, but primarily the Director of Support Services to provide analytics and monitor business activities.

Responsibilities
    Works with Chief Pharmacy Officer, Director of Support Services and Director of Inpatient Pharmacy Services to develop and submit annual pharmacy inpatient expense (inpatient drug budget, FTE budget, etc), capital budget, and to develop and monitor quick start budget initiatives.
  • Responsible for inpatient pharmacy medication charging surveillance and risk mitigation including analytics necessary to utilize surveillance software.
  • Reviews and analyzes pharmacy inpatient medication charge reimbursement. When appropriate in conjunction with the Coordinator of Medication Use and Formulary Management.
  • Responsible for end of the month clinic charges to Finance. Reviews EOM summary from Pharmacy Stock system, add other charges as needed and send to Finance.
  • Works with Director of Support Services to manage, report, and optimize pharmacy inpatient revenue and expense metrics.
  • In collaboration with Purchasing Pharmacist creates analytics for and monitors wholesaler and direct medication expense purchasing patterns and trends.
  • Works with 340B coordinators to ensure hospital 340B compliance and optimization.
  • Works with Director of Support Services and / or purchasing pharmacist on contracting with vendors including overseeing contract review process with Legal department.
  • Working in conjunction with Chief Pharmacy Officer and Pharmacy Directors to develop financial projections, reports, and analysis related to new business planning.
  • Manages account and payment issues with pharmacy supply chain vendors.
  • Assists with annual physical inventory by providing analytics and reports necessary to split out WAC, 340B, and GPO inventory costing.
  • Other business related responsibilities as assigned by Director of Support Services.
Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

Education:

  • Master's degree in business or related field.

Required Experience:

  • At least 3 years' business experience
  • Ability to make decisions and coordinate activities
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Data analytics skillset
  • Pharmacy experience desired
  • Position requires the ability to interact effectively with customers and information systems personnel across the organization.
