Job Description
Job Brief

Location of this job is flexible, but travel nationwide is required.

Position Purpose:

Responsible for helping coordinate the safety of personnel, materials, equipment, and environments for utility construction projects. Assist management and craft personnel to promote and ensure safe work practices and conditions.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Assist with new hire general safety orientation
  • Coordinate, conduct, and document safety meetings and on-site safety audits
  • Ensure that federal, state, and local safety laws, regulations, codes, and rules are observed.
  • Monitor activities where accidents could occur, halting any operation or activity that constitutes an imminent hazard to personnel or equipment
  • Provide safety technical support and education for supervisors and employees. Provides feedback to encourage learning
  • Promote proactive and preventive safety activities by observing, analyzing, encouraging safe work behaviors and correcting unsafe conditions
  • Integrate safety into project plans by establishing safety goals, reinforcing safety policies and procedures.
  • Monitor safety compliance, creating awareness and set priorities that focus on continuous safety improvement
  • Work closely with the MJE Corporate Safety Staff to share incident reports, safety alerts, safety information and track safety training
  • Lead, new hire orientation, on-boarding, employee training and development
  • Develop and monitor safety metrics and scorecards. Identify deficiencies and take appropriate corrective action
  • Monitor safety compliance, creating awareness and set priorities that focus on continuous safety improvement
  • Perform and monitor safety audits

  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
  • Ability to consult around building and maintaining a strong safety culture
  • Proven communication, organizational, presentation and analytical skills
  • Demonstrate ability to work with IBEW Union Craft personnel
  • Location of this job is flexible, but travel nationwide is required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree Ocuppation Safety & Health, Construction Management preferred. Related field equivilent Linework, Substation or civil excavation experience will be considered

Work Environment

  • Must be able to remain standing approximately 50% of the time
  • Ocassional bending, stooping, squatting, reaching, climbing
  • The person in this position frequently communicates with employees and vendors and must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations
  • Occassionaly works in outdoor weather conditions
  • Occasionally lifting 40 pounds
