Southern Maryland Electric Cooperative has an immediate opening for an Assistant Building Services Engineer. Demonstrates the ability to manage maintenance and service contractors for facilities system repairs and service. Also serves as a backup in the absence of the Facilities Engineer. Manages defined Capital projects under the supervision of the Facilities Engineer as it relates to the Cooperative physical assets, including but not limited to HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical as well as office equipment and furniture, facilities maintenance equipment, etc.

Candidates are required to have a two-year college degree with experience/technical certification in mechanical, electrical and plumbing trades. Building Automation Systems management experience preferred.
Candidates are required to have a minimum of six years progressive experience in facilities services, Building Automation Systems management, project management, supervising and budgets. Knowledge of safety, security and environmental regulations and building codes are also required.
The starting salary range for this position is $73,500-$95,300. SMECO offers and excellent benefits program including a 401k 6% dollar for dollar match and additional 3% non-elective company contribution.
Exempt Status - The position is exempt from the overtime requirements of the Fair Labor Standards Act, as amended - executive, professional or administrative definition. This position requires availability for emergencies, attendance at night meetings, etc., without additional compensation.
