This position supports the Financial Litigation Unit (FLU) at the USAO. The FLU litigates debt collection issues and enforces collection of criminal and civil debts owed to the United States or to victims of federal crime. Civil recoveries are generally from delinquent student loans and small business loans, environmental penalties, bankruptcy judgments, and civil fraud prosecutions and penalties. Criminal recoveries are for special assessments, restitution which is returned to crime victims, fines and penalties.
A Paralegal III is responsible for performing a variety of paralegal and technical work requiring specialized knowledge of processes, procedures and practices to support legal activities within the Financial Litigation Unit and the Civil Divison, to include:
