HDR is looking for a Senior Cost Estimator to join our construction cost estimating team in either Atlanta, GA or Gainesville, FL. This individual will work as part of the South Atlantic Area Water Business group, with a focus on water, wastewater and water resources projects. They may also be expected to provide cost estimating support for other business groups throughout the Southeast and other regional offices. They will be expected to have extensive experience in the development of Opinion of Construction Cost estimates. They must have at least 20 years of construction cost estimating experience, as well as construction experience and the ability to translate this into construction cost estimates. Prior experience working for a construction contractor is preferred but not required. They will develop estimates for water treatment plants, wastewater treatment plants, pump stations, and pipelines, and be expected to lead cost estimates. On large projects, they will work with other estimators supporting specific divisions of work, such as electrical, instrumentation, and controls. This position requires developing a written and communicated basis of estimate to outline major assumptions and excluded items. They must have the skills for performing quantity takeoff from drawings, either manually or using takeoff software, as well as an understanding of direct costs and indirect costs.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a combination of education and experience would be accepted

Minimum of 20 years of construction estimating experience

Extensive construction cost estimating experience

Experience with BIM Models used for quantity takeoff and 5D

Extensive experience and competency with Sage (Timberline)

Ability to effectively write a basis of estimate

Understanding of direct costs and indirect costs

Construction experience and the ability to translate this into construction cost estimates

Ability to perform quantity takeoff from drawings, either manually or using takeoff software

Strong communication skills to interact with project team members and other estimating staff

An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working with a construction contractor is desirable

Experience with Innovaya BIM-Sage tool is preferred

Local candidates are preferred
