Associate Director of Communications for Center on Faith and Justice, McCourt School of Public Policy Georgetown University

Associate Director of Communications for Center on Faith and Justice, McCourt School of Public Policy - Georgetown University

Grounded in the mandate of Matthew 25 to focus on the "least of these" and committed to pursue the Gospel values of justice and peace, Georgetown University's will advance a deeper understanding and integration of faith and moral public policy into our political and civil discourse, help to reshape the nation's political narrative, and advocate for more compassionate and just policies that prioritize the needs of historically marginalized people and communities and increases their ability to thrive and flourish.

The Associate Director of Communications collaborates in developing and implementing a strategic, multifaceted communications program designed to support the Center's the mission and strategic objectives. Reporting to the Center's Executive Director, and collaborating with other McCourt staff, and with institutes, centers, and other campus partners, the Associate Director of Communications has duties that include but are not limited to:

Editorial and Strategic Communications
  • Plan, develop and write original content and multimedia packages that accurately communicate the Center's strategic priorities, vision, values and mission and are consistent with the university's visual and editorial style guides
  • Build, maintain, and execute a content strategy and calendar encompassing all activities for the academic year
  • Deliver accurate and relevant content on deadline, adhering to journalistic standards
  • Write about a wide range of policy, politics, and faith issues


Media Relations
  • Pitch to national and local press outlets
  • Develop and manage a strategic communications plan focused on the core issue areas of the Center


Strategic Programming and Events
  • Help design, organize and promote Center on Faith and Justice events
  • Assist in writing invitations, event descriptions, talking points, FAQ's, and other strategic communications resources


Social Media Management

Manage the social media pages of both the Center and the Director

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 5+ years of experience with an emphasis on writing, content creation, media relations, social media, and communications management and strategy
  • Strong interpersonal skills and executive presence for effective interactions working with internal and external clients and individuals, including prominent media, faith, and political leaders
  • Comfort and experience working with in issues related to faith and politics
  • Ability to work independently, assuming responsibility, prioritizing and carrying out duties with a minimum of supervision
  • Excellent organizational skills, oral and written communications skills, and the ability to articulate the Center's needs, interests, and accomplishments to a wide range of audiences
  • Ability to handle multiple "priority" projects simultaneously and set and meet deadlines


Preferred qualifications
  • Experience in faith or politics communications
  • Experience with organizing events and panel discussions
