Position Title: Special Events Manager

Non-Exempt with Benefits

Position Summary:

Events Manager is a full time, year around fundraising position with benefits. Responsibilities will include planning and execution of the Affair to Remember gala as well as support of the St. Louis Walk Manager. This position is results driven with the necessity of making the annual gala fundraising goal as well as building strong relationships with the community, high level donors and volunteers.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsibility for planning, implementation and overall financial success of event.
  • Develop budget and manage expenses accordingly.
  • Create financial report including revenue and expense.
  • Recruit and cultivate Dinner Committee.
  • Engage, recruit, train and lead the Steering Committee.
  • Assist in securing corporate sponsorships.
  • Collaborate with other key departments to ensure cross promotion, and support of, organizational goals and/or messages.
  • Collaborates and supports the communications coordinator and graphic artist for production of event promotional materials.
  • Monitor activities to identify trends and best practices; measure impact of specific actions; identify and address issues as they arise and adjust plans as required.
  • Follow up with Finance with post event updates.
  • Ensure on-going mission education for volunteer Steering Committee members.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor degree in business or related field.
  • Minimum five years experience in special events with a record of meeting or exceeding fundraising goals.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of budget development and management
  • Strong organizational skills to plan, implement, and administer fundraising events
  • Able to work successfully in a diverse team environment
  • Outcomes driven
  • Flexibility of schedule and availability of time necessary to accomplish events goals
  • Leadership skills in supervising committee and event volunteers; minimum two years experience working with professional and clerical staff and volunteers
  • Demonstrated expertise recruiting and leading volunteer committees
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, especially Word, Excel and Outlook, and the Internet
