The following position is for Alkermes, Inc.

Position Description: Alkermes is searching for a highly talented Scientist responsible for developing and evaluating cutting-edge technologies and concepts for protein modeling and engineering. The newly designed proteins are expected to be the first- or best-in-class biologics to support early drug discovery in multiple disease areas, including oncology, immunology, fibrosis and others.

KEY DUTIES:

  • Protein modeling and in silico design efforts to support ongoing protein engineering projects.
  • Identify cutting-edge technologies or methodologies to enable novel protein design and engineering for specific functional goals.
  • Ability to assess newly engineered proteins in biophysical and/or cellular assays
  • Ability to produce newly engineered proteins in high-throughput and small scale from HEK/CHO systems
  • Support IP protection and publications.

TECHNICAL SKILLS:

  • Protein computational modeling, design & engineering
  • In-depth understanding of protein structure-function, knowledge in Rosetta is a plus
  • Hands-on experience in protein expression and production
  • Experience with external vendors and CROs is a plus
  • Experience in early drug discovery, especially target identification and validation
  • Knowledge in immunology, oncology is a plus

  • Sense of urgency (self-motivation)
  • Strong interdisciplinary communication skills

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • PhD in a relevant scientific discipline (chemistry, biochemistry, biophysics, biology)
