The Events and Member Support Department is seeking applicants interested in the position of Planner.

The firm's national meetings are the crown jewel of the Advisory Board. Providing members with direct access to insights and networking, the national meeting is a direct driver of membership value and has the single highest corollary to renewals.

The Events and Member Support Department is responsible for the strategy, planning, and execution of 175+ member and prospect events annually. Events owned by the Planner include high-profile summits, national meeting series, international programs, small executive-level round-tables, and virtual events with the same variation in type.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with program teams in developing event strategy for both in-persona and virtual events; serving as a consultant to the team by bringing forward innovative event ideas and ensuring objectives for each meeting are set and executed upon
  • Manage the entire meeting planning process (from invitation creation through completion) with both internal and external contacts; coordinate with contacts to ensure contracts are accurate and meeting criteria are received, understood and implemented
  • Act as a central point of contact for assigned meeting series and maintain a seamless relationship with key decision makers both internally and externally
  • Monitor attendance reports to ensure capacity is maximized at each meeting; make adjustments to meeting space or sleeping room blocks as necessary
  • Work closely with meeting facility, hotel, restaurant and audio-visual company in preparation, onsite and following each meeting
  • Assume on-site management for in-house, external meetings and virtual meetings; organize and manage ABC staff, speakers and materials; ensure all agenda timelines are met
  • Report and distribute accurate data (meeting scores, attendee comments) to all relevant internal departments; follow up on any areas of concern
  • Collect, review and analyze historical meeting data (scores, attendance, cost, etc.) in order to predict future trends
  • Adhere to outlined budgets for each meeting assigned; seek opportunities to minimize expenditures which will not compromise meeting quality
  • Manage staff onsite to ensure superior service is provided to both internal and external constituencies
  • Work with meeting coordinators on meeting preparation and support

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Demonstrated experience interacting with customers or clients and promptly responding to customer inquiries
  • Proven experience managing multiple, competing priorities
  • Willingness to travel (varies month to month but on average is 20-30% per year)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1+ year of event planning experience
  • Positive attitude, poise and judgment
  • Highly organized with a strong attention to detail
  • Results-oriented; solid work ethic
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment
  • Outstanding problem-solving skills
