CDL Trailer/Tractor Truck Driver

Location:

  • Martinsville, VA 24112

Salary:

  • $25 per hour

Shift / Hours:

  • Monday - Friday
  • 6:00am - 4:00pm
  • Home Every night

Requirements:

  • CDL License
  • Minimum of 3 years verifiable interstate driving experience
  • Excellent safety driving record - no violations in the last 3 years
  • No at fault accidents in the last 3 years
  • Pass a pre-employment physical or possess a valid medical certificate (Long Form).
  • Pass a pre-employment DOT drug screen and previous employer alcohol and drug validation
  • Speak and read English well enough to converse with the general public, understand highway trafficsigns and signals, respond to official questions, and be able to make legible entries on reports and records
  • Have only one valid commercial motor vehicle operator's license
  • Pass a driver's road test or equivalent and been issued a certificate
  • Verify and complete all other applicable driver qualification file requirements


Highly Preferred:

  • Previous commercial driving experience

Essential Functions:

  • Deliver goods while operating a tractor-trailer truck, sometimes over intercity routes or spanning several states
  • Drive long distances
  • Fill up on fuel, clean truck, and wash windows
  • Report to a dispatcher any incidents encountered on the road
  • Monitor road conditions and watch for traffic congestion
  • Follow all applicable traffic laws
  • Inspect their trailer before and after thetrip andrecord any defects they find
  • Follow accident procedures if an accident occurs
  • Keep a log of their activities
  • Report serious mechanical problems to the appropriate personnel
  • Keep their truck, and associated equipment, clean and in good working order
  • Plan routes using maps or satellite tracking
  • Get goods to client on time
  • Take rest periods during trip
  • Take special precautions while driving
  • Maintain log of trips



Responsibilities/Duties



Required Skills

Must have a Class 'A' CDL license.

Minimum of 3 years verifiable interstate driving experience.

Excellent safety driving record - no violations in the last 3 years.

Be at least 21 years of age.
