Job Description

This position will provide engineering, installation, and troubleshooting support voice RF and computer systems on a dedicated enterprise Navy network. You will participate as a member of a network engineering and operations team supporting an enterprise Navy network distributed globally with RF radio systems, server hardware, and desktop workstations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for assisting in the design, development, documentation, testing, implementation, and support of RF radio communication and computer systems architectures, technologies, capabilities, and solutions that are integrated into a globally distributed enterprise network
  • Develop documentation on radio and computer system architectures and operations including architecture diagrams, configuration and installation procedures, test plans/results, operating and troubleshooting procedures
  • Install, configure, test, and troubleshoot RF radios, antennas, computer server hardware, touchscreen PCs, UPS/PDUs, KVMs, operating systems, and software applications.
  • Configure and test new and prototype RF and computer equipment, hardware, and applications.
  • Research vendor equipment and create equipment lists for procurement of hardware, software, and other resources required for development and implementation
  • Support the implementation and execution of the installation and transition plan including physical installations and system configurations at local and remote CONUS and OCONUS sites and ships including remote radio sites
  • Perform corrective and preventative maintenance on computer, network, radio, and antenna systems including OS/application patches, firmware updates, hardware replacements, and antenna maintenance.
  • Support the full life-cycle of communications and network engineering solutions for connectivity between and among shore sites and ships with voice communications over radio systems and IP network networks

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems or related discipline and 0-2 years of experience. In some cases, educational requirements may be adjusted forapplicable work experience. Work experience may be adjusted for highly specialized knowledge or uniquely applicable experience.

Desired Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge and experience with LOS and SATCOM RF communications systems andcryptographic support systems
  • Knowledge of IP network fundamentals including IP address, multicast, OSI model, and Ethernet packet structure.
  • Ability to perform physical installation, corrective, and preventative maintenance of network, computer, radio, and antenna systems.
  • Experience with configuring applications on Windows/Linux operating systems including patches, updates, and configuration files.
  • Knowledge of RAID, Virtual Machines, and Hypervisors.
  • Familiarity with HBSS or similar Host-based Intrusion Prevention System
  • Familiarity with Active Directory, Group Policy, User Account management, and general System Administration utilities
  • Familiarity with Wireshark, tcpdump, or similar packet capture software
  • Possess ability to visualize overall view of systems and conceptualize and document technical solutions.
  • Possess technical network troubleshooting skills with the ability to troubleshoot technical issues within multiple systems, RF environments, and IP networks.
  • Familiarity with NSA Type 1 cryptographic devices and Keymat.
  • Familiarity with VoIP technologies and systems
  • Must be willing to support periodic travel CONUS and OCONUS.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance

Certifications:

  • Must have a current Security + CE or be able to obtain within 90 days of employment
  • Must have one of the following operating system or be able to obtain within 90 days of employment:
    • CCNA
    • Microsoft MTA, MCSA, or MCSE
    • CompTIA Linux+ or Redhat RHCT
  • Candidates with certifications from both categories highly preferred
