Senior Manager, Direct Mail - Card Acquisitions

Capital One, one of Fortune Magazine's "100 Best Companies to Work For," is looking for a strategic, proactive and data-driven marketer to join our U.S. Card marketing team. This person will drive prospect facing campaigns, creative strategy and learning agendas across Direct Mail for multiple lines of business (Mainstreet, Upmarket and some co-brand Cards). In this role, the Marketing Senior Manager will lead our DM Acquisitions Center of Excellence team to generate more customers by developing/optimizing creative and targeting to drive conversion.

The ideal candidate will have proven experience developing and executing direct response marketing campaigns in direct mail and other channels (email, paid search, site, display, Gmail). They demonstrate the ability to be creative, to initiate and launch effective marketing programs, work across diverse functions, thrive in a fast-paced environment, support aggressive timelines, and pivot seamlessly across tactical and strategic requirements. We're looking for someone with a forward lean into martech and cross channel coordination to maximize response.The right person is flexible and attentive to detail, able to manage multiple projects and navigate changing priorities while maintaining excellent work. Highly effective communication skills with outstanding writing and presentation abilities will be critical in order to influence cross-functional teams within our large organization.

Keys to success are an ability to identify, prioritize and own strategic opportunities, execute against an ongoing set of workstreams, analyze the impacts of the entire marketing program backed with analytics, and continually optimize results. This Senior Manager will also need to be a strong people leader and be able to build powerful cross-functional relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a multi-year, strategic marketing plan and roadmap to drive DM acquisitions

  • Manage the full lifecycle of marketing initiatives from defining the strategy all the way through measurement.

  • Lead development and execution of a strategic acquisition marketing agenda to reach and convert more prospects via the direct mail channel, keeping in mind that all response is done digitally so channels must be tied together.

  • Test into optimized creative/segmentation and use martech capabilities to transform our creative testing approach

  • Collaborate with business analyst teams to understand total business performance and build on analysis to identify new opportunities and adjust marketing/ testing strategies

  • Synthesize research insights, marketing trends, competitive landscape, and macro external factors to identify new strategic recommendations to improve marketing and business results

  • Serve as key liaison for and collaborate with cross-functional teams including Business, channel/performance marketing, product marketing, creative, legal and operations partners. This position would also interact with external creative agencies

  • Translate and communicate business intent in a directive manner that partner teams can act on

  • Write clear and concise creative briefs, test documents, test plans and strategies, driving continued performance and optimization against KPIs across programs

  • Identify synergies between lines of business to leverage results across the board

  • Ensure the Capital One brand (brand personas, voice and style) is upheld with our pre-customer base

  • Effectively communicate marketing performance, opportunities, objectives, strategy, and milestones to senior leaders and key stakeholders.

Basic Qualifications:

  • At least 10 years of experience in Direct Mail marketing strategy and acquisitions

  • At least 7 years of People Management experience

  • At least 7 years of experience leading cross functional teams to deliver marketing campaigns

  • At least 3 years experience with a variety of marketing channels including email, text/push notifications and Social Media platform

  • At least 2 years of experience in Content Marketing

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge on a range of digital and conventional printing techniques
