Position Highlights

The AZ Student Union is looking for a Facilities Operations Manager to join our team. This position oversees the Housekeeping (Custodial) and Operations activities for all Arizona Student Unions buildings and satellite locations while maintaining cleanliness, sanitation, health and appearance of the facilities. This position supervises, plans and directs the day-to-day work of both full-time and student staff, and makes recommendations to the Assistant Director with the budgeting process and the selection process for operational needs.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Oversees operations for Arizona Student Unions buildings which includes Housekeeping and Facilities Operations.
  • Develops team needs specifications.
  • May be responsible for planning and control of Facilities Operations expenses including but not limited to annual budget, reconciliation of actual expenses.
  • Plans and directs the day to day work of staff to meet job standards and outcomes.
  • Provides inventory control according to established procedures.
  • Assists with competitive selection processes for operational needs.
  • Makes recommendations to Assistant Director related to necessary materials and equipment in conjunction with budgeting process.
  • Typically supervises non-exempt employees. Trains, establishes and communicates performance expectations and conducts performance evaluations.
  • May provide input on pay decisions as well as recruitment and development opportunities.
  • Coordinates with other departments within Arizona Student Unions to assist with special events, moving furniture or other facilities needs.
  • Must have a valid drivers license upon hire. Position requires driving from unit to unit across campus. As well as, the ability to drive according to the University Fleet Safety Policy found here: https://risk.arizona.edu/sites/default/files/fleetsafetypolicy.pdf
  • Must be able to occasionally transport/move a minimum of 50 pounds
  • Additional duties as assigned by Assistant Director Facilities Operations
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 3 years of related work experience OR equivalent combination of education and work experience required.
  • Supervisory experience
  • Must have a valid drivers license upon hire.
  • Must be able to occasionally transport/move a minimum of 50 pounds
Preferred Qualifications
  • Three years of progressively responsible related operations and facilities experience which includes two years of supervisory experience
  • Working knowledge of operations facilities and custodial principles, practices, and techniques
