Description

Planned Parenthood was founded on the visionary idea that access to sexual and reproductive health care could transform people's lives. For 80 years, PPMW has provided high-quality, supportive reproductive medical care for families in the DC metro area. We are seeking a hard-working, personable intern to assist our Director of Organizing and Volunteer Programming this Fall.


This internship is paid. Pay depends on your year in college and ranges from $15-$18/hr. The intern is asked to be available at least 15-20 hours a week. Internships with PPMW are an excellent way to build your resume while gaining valuable experience and an excellent opportunity to get involved in the fight for reproductive healthcare access & gain experience in organizing! Start and end dates are to be determined based on an academic schedule, if applicable.


Our ideal candidate should have a strong & proven commitment to progressive values & civic engagement. Organizing experience is a plus! Diverse candidates are especially encouraged to apply.

What we're looking for:

  • College student, freshman through senior, interested in organizing, public affairs, political science, or reproductive health, rights, and justice.
  • Able to commit 15-20 hours per week with occasional evening and weekend availability for event opportunities.
  • Excellent oral communication & organizational skills.
  • Experience phone-banking or canvassing for an organization or candidate is a plus.
  • Enjoys engaging and educating Planned Parenthood supporters.

What you'll do:

  • Assist in organizing grassroots efforts with the goal of preserving & broadening access to reproductive health care in DC, MD, & VA.
  • Participate in phone banking and hustle banking (peer-to-peer texting) efforts.
  • Volunteer recruitment, engagement, and education.
  • Learn how to use NGP VAN.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Details:

The internship is remote in that you will not need to report to an office, but will have components of in-person community work.
