Job Description

ENSCO ASE is recruiting senior engineering and support staff supporting the Office of the Undersecretary of Defense, Research and Engineering Branch (OUSD/R&E). We are currently seeking a Technical or Engineering Lead Speciality Engineering (SpE) who is capable of leading, mentoring, organizing, prioritizing, and executing Specialty Engineering activities in at least one discipline: Manufacturing, Quality and Value Engineering; Human Systems Integration (HSI); System Safety Engineering; and Reliability and Maintainability (R&M) Engineering. Mature judgement required to interface with external stakeholders and senior government personnel. Position located on-site in the Washington D.C./Virginia area.

  • Work to evaluate and secure cutting-edge technology and engineering capabilities to facilitate modernization efforts and support DoD joint warfighting efforts
  • Work with a team of driven, supportive, and highly skilled professionals
  • Provide Professional Engineering Services in the areas of Technical Expertise and General Engineering Support; Engineering Policy, Guidance, and Standards; Systems Engineering; Engineering Tools and Environment; and Specialty Engineering

Qualifications Required (Skills)

  • BS degree or higher in an engineering, scientific, or technical discipline that is relevant to Engineering.
  • Minimum of 10 years of engineering experience.
  • Certifications: Minimum one active professional certification, or academic certificate obtained within five years, related to SpE disciplines
  • Demonstrated experience with government, industry and/or academia in Specialty Engineering disciplines
  • Demonstrated ability to solve problems in collaboration with DoD and external stakeholders while meeting organizational goals
  • Professional Associations: Active membership in a professional association related to SpE disciplines required
  • Excellent communication skills both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to develop papers, reports, and briefings targeted to senior decision makers
  • Experience to include supporting policy and process engineering activities
  • AN ACTIVE DOD TS/SCI CLEARANCE IS REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION FOR WHICH YOU MUST BE A U.S. CITIZEN

Qualifications Desired

  • Master's degree in field related to SpE disciplines (Manufacturing, Quality and Value Engineering; Human Systems Integration (HSI); System Safety Engineering; and, Reliability and Maintainability (R&M) Engineering).
  • Capable of leading, mentoring, organizing, prioritizing and executing Specialty Engineering activities with 10+ years' experience in multiple Specialty Engineering disciplines.
  • 15+ years' experience in field related to Specialty Engineering disciplines.
  • More than one active professional certification, or academic certificate obtained within five years, related to Specialty Engineering disciplines.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and mitigate risks and issues, and exploit opportunities on behalf of DoD.
  • Demonstrated experience creating and updating DoD policy, guidance and training to achieve goals in the National Defense Strategy related to Specialty Engineering disciplines. Demonstrated experience with multiple warfighting domains.
  • Demonstrated experience with advanced and emerging technology areas such as autonomy, cloud computing and artificial intelligence.
  • Demonstrated creativity, foresight, initiative and mature judgment in anticipating and solving difficult problems.
  • Demonstrated experience with digital engineering, digital transformation and datacentric operations.

Division Description

The Aerospace Sciences and Engineering (ASE) Division is based in Cocoa Beach, Fla., with facilities and capabilities in Colorado Springs, Colo., El Segundo, Calif., and Orcutt, Calif. ASE's primary focus is aerospace engineering, cyber security and meteorological systems.

ASE is the prime contractor to the U.S. Space Force, providing Systems Engineering & Integration of the Launch Safety infrastructure, the Satellite Control Network and the Standard Space Trainer.

ENSCO's aerospace engineering efforts support launch range activities throughout the U.S. ASE employees are developing the Range of the future and evaluating highly technical systems for critical launch operations, including range instrumentation, safety and communications.
