Job Description

The student simulation technician intern collaborates with other members in the College of Health and Human Services in performing duties essential to the achievement of the college goals for simulation. The main purpose of this position is to function as a member of the simulation technician team supporting the educational activities of the simulation center. Strong organizational skills required for time management and to prioritize conflicting demands. Self-motivated and willing to learn new skills. Ability to occasionally lift and use heavy or specialized medical equipment.

Primary Responsibilities

•In collaboration with the simulation center team, prepares for healthcare simulation activities by setting up patient simulator systems, healthcare equipment, supplies, manikin moulage, audio/video systems, and electronic medical record system.
•Assists with conducting healthcare simulation scenarios by operating patient simulator computer systems.
•Ability to work with computers (PC & MAC).
•Ability to troubleshoot issues related to technology and other equipment.
•Assists with the care, periodic maintenance and repairs (as appropriate) of task trainers, manikins, and other simulation center equipment.
•Assists with the installation of hardware equipment and software upgrades.
•Assists in preparing for standardized patient simulations.
•Provides theatrical or standardized patient support.
•Assists with simulation center tours.
•Participates in maintaining storage areas and tracking inventory.
•Maintains cleanliness and order of specialized equipment and supplies.
•Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively with academic and technical colleagues.
•Ability to work flexible schedule.

Qualifications

Must be an NKU Graduate Student. Strong organizational skills required for time management and to prioritize conflicting demands. Self-motivated and willing to learn new skills. Ability to occasionally lift and use heavy or specialized medical equipment.
