Job Description
BALTIMORE COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS

JOB TITLE: TEACHER, BALTIMORE COUNTY DENTENTION CENTER (BCDC)

REPORTS TO: Supervisor, Intervention Programs

DEFINTION: Plans for, assesses, and responds to student learning. Selects instructional materials to provide customized instruction. Builds student capacity to personalize learning experiences. Collaborates with supervisor and other staff members.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
  • Orient students to the blended learning classroom upon registration and enrollment.
  • Coordinate pre-assessments, formative assessments, and summative assessments of learning and use assessment data to drive instructional decisions.
  • Plan, implement, and modify instruction based on student's needs in alignment with BCPS' course curriculum with deference to COMAR requirements for blended learning.
  • Collaborate with a variety of colleagues to provide a responsive and student-centered learning environment and experience.
  • Seek and use a variety of resources to provide blended learning experiences, including, but not limited to, required digital content aligned with BCPS curriculum.
  • Oversee appropriate use and care of instructional materials.
  • Plan lesson sequences using provided guiding resources for students designated to the program to allow for seamless movement into and out of the program, as necessary.
  • Implement individualized, classroom, and site-based behavior management plans and programs in order to ensure a safe, orderly, and productive learning environment.
  • Report student progress regularly and according to specified processes and deadlines.
  • Maintain complete, accurate, and timely student academic, attendance, and disciplinary records.
  • Attend sessions regularly and punctually.
  • Attend and actively participate in relevant professional development activities and site-based faculty meetings.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education, Training, and Experience:

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a degree related to the assignment; plus, three completed years of successful teaching experience at the secondary level.


Licenses and Certificates:

Possession of Maryland Standard Professional Certificate from MSDE in the content area(s) taught.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of pedagogy.
  • Knowledge, skill, and successful experience with blended learning and credit recovery programs.
  • Outstanding oral and written communications skills.
  • Possession of technology competency (e.g., database, internet, spreadsheet, word processing, and related applications); skill and experience in data analysis and application.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Ability to maintain confidential information.


PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:

The work of this class is generally active and performed in the classroom setting. Work includes the operation of classroom equipment, including technological devices, supervising and responding to multiple groups of students in a classroom and/or computer lab environment.

SALARY:$39.31 per hour

Pre-Employment Requirements:

All persons employed by the Baltimore County Public Schools, regular and temporary, are required to be fingerprinted and have a criminal background investigation (State of Maryland, Senate Bill 315, effective October 1, 1986) completed. The fee charged for fingerprinting is $100.00. An identification card will be issued which must be shown prior to employment.
Anyone offered employment is required to provide proper identification and documentation of eligibility for employment in the US.
If you have military experience you will be asked to provide a copy of DD214.
Official transcripts for all higher education must be received prior to contract signing.
Some positions will require employees to undergo a physical examination and/or drug testing.
All newly hired personnel must attend a Badges and Benefits session.
Additional job verification will be required for salary credit.
