ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Collaboration and mentoring are cornerstones of Geosyntec's culture. We operate under a sell-manage-do culture, and so we expect that you will work on challenging technical projects while leveraging your existing knowledge and experience to help Geosyntec expand its current practices and capabilities through business development and client interactions. You will also be asked to take on task management responsibilities with purpose of growing into a project manager role.

Some of the key responsibilities for the position may include:

  • Work plan development including sampling design and strategy and fieldwork methodologies;
  • Fieldwork such as soil, surface water and groundwater sampling, and drilling and contractor oversight;
  • Data analysis, including preparing maps, tables, and figures;
  • Chemical data and contaminant fate & transport evaluation;
  • Groundwater and soil remedy evaluation, cost estimation, design calculations, and implementation;
  • Environmental due diligence, regulatory compliance services, and permitting; and
  • Preparation of technical reports, letters, memoranda, plans, and specifications.

Here are some other things you should know about this position:

  • Training: This position requires OSHA health and safety, first aid, and CPR training and medical monitoring, paid for by the firm. We also offer professional development opportunities including in-house seminars, webinars, a formal Learning Management System tailored to you career growth, and a formal mentoring program that connects you to another Geosyntec employee based on the input you are seeking for your professional development. These opportunities allow our professionals to build the technical and business skills necessary to become successful consultants.
  • Fieldwork: Up to 25% almost all of which will require overnight travel. In Alaska, our field events often occur in remote, wild places where accommodations consist of field camps and extended durations of two to three weeks.

EDUCATION AND LICENSURE

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, geology or related scientific field. (required)
  • Advanced degree in engineering, geology or related scientific field. (preferred)
  • Licensure is not required, although development toward licensure is expected

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • At least 2 years of related experience, including observation of drilling and well installation, soil sampling, groundwater sampling, and other field techniques. (required)
  • Excellent writing and communication skills. (required)
  • Ability to succeed in a fast-paced consulting environment, handling multiple project assignments, meeting strict deadlines for internal and external clients, and traveling to client facilities as needed. (required)
  • Experience collaborating with multi-disciplinary project teams. (required)
  • Experience meeting client expectations. (required)
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements related to environmental remediation. (preferred)
  • Project experience involving environmental regulatory compliance, historical research, and environmental assessment. (preferred)
  • Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and related software; AutoCAD and/or GIS. (preferred)
  • Current OSHA 40-hr HAZWOPER training and refreshers. (preferred)
  • Valid U.S. driver's license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
