Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY
Diagnose, adjust, repair, or overhaul vehicles and machinery, such as semi-tractors, scrapers, excavators and other heavy equipment in the shop. 
 
Essential Functions Statement(s)
Record details of repairs made and parts used. 
Reassemble vehicles and equipment following repair, testing operation and making adjustments as necessary. 
Maintain, repair, and overhaul heavy machinery and vehicles, such as haul trucks, semi-tractors, loaders, scrapers, and hydraulic systems. 
Examine and listen to vehicles, read inspection reports, and confer with operators to locate and diagnose malfunctions. 
Dismantle defective vehicles for repair, using personal hand tools. 
Test and replace electrical components and wiring, using test meters, soldering equipment, and hand tools. 
Repair or replace defective parts, using hand tools, welding equipment, grinders, or saws. 
Clean and lubricate parts. 
Tune or overhaul engines. 
Fabricate new metal parts, using drill presses, and other general machine tools. 
Use an android tablet and or laptop to make a record of repairs made, labor time, and parts used. 
Diagnose, repair or replace hydraulic systems and or components. 
   
Skills and Abilities
 
Education:
High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED): Required
Associate's Degree (two year college or technical school) or Work Equivalent, Field of Study: Diesel Mechanics  (not required)
 
Experience:
3 plus years of experience in Heavy Equipment Repair.
 
Computer Skills: Must be familiar with Microsoft office, scheduling software and standard functions of transferring, saving and imputing of data on a computer. Must be able to operate an android smart phone or tablet.
 
 
 
Certifications &
Licenses:
Certificate related to diesel mechanical repair or 3 years of verifiable job experience.  A CDL license Class B or higher is encouraged but not REQUIRED. 
 
 
Other Requirements:
Clean Driving record and the ability to pass a background investigation, and drug screening.
 
 
 
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Indoor, outdoor, and varying weather conditions.
