Applications will be accepted for the position of Toolmaker Traineefor entry into the Skilled Trades Training Program. To be eligible for consideration for entry into this training program candidates must submit a professional resume and take written tests as well as be selected through an interview process. All the candidates will be evaluated based upon test scores work experience and record, education and training.

We are looking for a Toolmaker trainee to create precision tools to aid in our manufacturing process. In this position, the chosen candidate will be responsible for grinding, turning, and milling material to create the pieces needed. You may also be responsible for drawing these pieces in CAD software for use in a CNC machine and interpreting the blueprints of engineers. The ideal applicant has experience as a lathe operator or die maker as well as skills with milling machines and a variety of numerical control processes.

Toolmaker Duties and Responsibilities

  • Draft tool designs using CAD software
  • Read blueprints from other designers
  • Program machines to create each tool
  • Perform quality checks on your tools
  • Perform maintenance on your machines

The rate of pay for entry into the Training Program will be a minimum of 78% of the top rate or at a higher pay dependent upon the candidate's previous related training or experience but no greater than 89% of the top rate. Full rate for this position is currently $26.30.

The Training Program provides up to 8,000 hours of on the job training, less any initially accredited training time, with continued satisfactory performance before attaining full Toolmaker status.

Internal and External candidates are going to be considered for this position.
