Test Engineers manage testing services projects including in-house product testing and customer-contracted projects requiring product instrumentation, data acquisition, and analysis. Troubleshoots and improves engine dynamometer, rig, and bench testing systems. Develops and designs fixtures for various testing requirements. Assists in the development of improved analytical and experimental techniques to optimize GVS products. Provides general engineering assistance and manage local technical projects.

Required Skills

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Must have a basic and working knowledge of engine performance & test methods as it relates to powertrain systems.
  • Must be able to design, analyze, test and also assist in development of GVS products and tools.
  • Must have mechanical design skills and understanding of electronics.
  • Must be capable of performing tests and miscellaneous work order with some assistance including:
  • Operating instruments and equipment in the test lab.
  • Basic understanding of test methods and test procedures
  • Basic understanding of trouble shooting and maintenance
  • Basic ability for tooling design
  • Understanding of pre and post-test analysis
  • Must have ability to write technical reports, procedures and specifications, research investigations, and customer interaction.
  • Actively participate in department meeting, ability to be a resource for product and application engineering. Frequent interface with Sales, Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Materials Engineering departments.
  • Measure valve train components and record data.
  • Must have a working knowledge of the materials used in GVS products.
  • Constructively questions current practices and seeks improvement opportunities.
  • May supervise the work of drafters, inspectors and other technicians assigned to assist in the work.
  • Must be involved with facility maintenance and housekeeping within the lab.
  • Provides hands on mechanical support laboratory and fabrication skills, including for example, welding, machine-shop practice, machinery operation and maintenance.
  • Experience in maintenance and operation of mechanical and electrical machinery.
  • Good interpersonal skills, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Minimum supervision/direction required to perform standard job duties.
  • Capable of providing support as requested by supervisor/Manager.

Required Experience

EDUCATION:

Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent/higher experience.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • 2-5 years of relevant work experience
  • Ability to conceptualize new designs and concepts.
  • Author, revise, and update Work Instructions or Procedures as appropriate.
  • Capable of maintaining calibration system.
  • Must have basic ability to apply engineering theory to testing.
  • Must have ability to write technical reports, procedures and specifications, research investigations, and customer interaction.
