Job Description

Position Overview: The Sr. Mechanical Engineer will tackle some of the most difficult engineering challenges in electrification and continuously push beyond what was deemed impossible in mobile power systems. The candidate needs to be a hands-on engineer that enjoys not only designing products but building them as well. The position requires utilization of skills across many disciplines and is for the individual that enjoys a broad scope focusing on critical processes in a highly entrepreneurial environment. Competitive compensation will be offered.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead overall mechanical system integration of product line-up;
  • Work with suppliers to integrate critical components and assemblies;
  • Design and develop trailer/suspension, enclosures, and electronic assemblies;
  • Manage external resources for thermal/structural/CFD modeling of components and systems;
  • Perform 3D modeling of components and assemblies; and
  • Support manufacturing in scale-up of Pilot and Production products.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • BS, MS, or PhD in Mechanical Engineering;
  • Proven track record of excellence in engineering;
  • Proficiency in CAD modeling and Solidworks experience highly valued;
  • Demonstrated experience launching electro-mechanical products from concept to manufacturing release preferred but not required;
  • Demonstrated experience in medium volume manufacturing processes such a sheet metal and design for manufacturing;
  • Detail oriented personality with solid documentation and reporting skills;
  • Sound engineering fundamentals;
  • Engineering design can be done from home, on-site support required in Richmond, CA as needed for development builds, manufacturing support, and troubleshooting;
  • Strong interpersonal skills to support communication with external counterparties;
  • Excels in a rigorous and fast-paced team-oriented work environment; and
  • Strong entrepreneurial mindset and the ability to handle multiple responsibilities.
