Basic Qualifications

Candidates should demonstrate a thorough understanding of engineering technology. Engineering Interns must be enrolled in an accredited degree program in Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or other related scientific or technical discipline with a preference for a standing of a sophomore or higher.

Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

Responsibilities for this Position

General Dynamics Mission Systems is looking for a talented Automation Intern who would like the opportunity to learn about and get hands on with cutting-edge technologies such as Robotics Process Automation (RPA) and Appian Business Process Management and workflows. As part of the team you’ll work with a dynamic group of engineers to support our business by creating new automation solutions that allow our customers to serve their defense and intelligence customers to the greatest of abilities.

The ideal candidate can think at a process level, spot issues, and think creatively to find solutions and improvements. The role will be responsible for reviewing/analyzing business processes and delivering automations by building RPA or workflow (Appian) solutions. This is a great opportunity to learn and contribute to the development of a dynamic and innovative team by bringing technical knowledge. Education / Experience:

  • Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, or other technical related degrees preferred
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Willingness to learn and understand the various automation technologies
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Basic understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and agile methodologies
  • Basic abilities to gather functional and technical requirements
  • Ability to develop process diagrams in Visio or similar process modeling tools
  • Educational or hands on experience in structured programming languages such as C#, Java, VBA, C++, .Net, etc.
  • Educational or hands on experience with MS SQL
  • Demonstrated experience in finding creative solutions to meet business challenges
