Position Summary / Career Interest:The Director of Clinical Physics is a board-certified medical physicist who is a clinical expert in therapeutic medical physics. The position involves oversight of the clinical operations of the Physics Division to ensure the safe delivery of radiation oncology treatment services for multiple locations. The position will directly oversee the staff of medical physics and dosimetry and report to the Chief of Medical Physics.Responsibilities:1)Perform the daily clinical duties and responsibilities of a clinical medical physicist.2)Create and manage physics coverage schedules.3)Ensures all radiation oncology equipment is calibrated per manufacturer, federal and state requirements on a daily, monthly and annual basis. Measures and analyzes beam data.Oversees quality assurance of equipment - hardware and software. Review daily, monthly, and annual records pertaining to the department.
6)Oversees physics and dosimetry - related quality assurance of the patient record.7)Assists Department Director and Chairman in evaluation of new radiation oncology technology and makes recommendations regarding appropriateness for department.8)Participates in decisions around the selection and commissioning of new radiation oncology equipment.9)Provides input for the development of the annual radiation oncology budget and provides input regarding finance variance reports.10)Serves as a member of the Radiation Safety and Quality Improvement Committees.11)Participates in development of protocols, policies and procedures for physics-related processes in Department.Works closely with Radiation Safety Officer to performs and/or oversees radiation shielding measurements and maintains appropriate records. Participate/Supervise routine clinical physics duties in all treatment modalities including special procedures. Participates in weekly physics chart rounds. Attend all department meeting pertaining to physics. Facilitate physics related clinical projects. Participate in medical and physics resident education. Participate in department's research projects.
