We are looking for an Industrial Engineer. The position will coordinate design for manufacturing meetings between engineering, manufacturing and advanced manufacturing engineering group (AME). Works on projects in various stages including research, initial concepts, design reviews, prototype development, quoting the manufacturing processes, development of equipment and tooling with suppliers, and coordination of launch into the manufacturing facility. This role will also, conduct capability studies of current processes, development of alternative processes, and benchmarking of competitors. Coordinates between external suppliers and internal plants and prototype facilities.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manages new process development.
  • Coordinates activities with various internal & external customers including contacts in Europe, Asia, and North America.
  • Develops new and improves existing manufacturing process design.
  • Selects and manages tooling, equipment and material sources and ensures project deadlines are met.
  • Works with engineering and commercial teams to determine processes, materials, and projects that need to be developed.
  • Responsible for applying engineering principles and analytical techniques to establish and continually improve manufacturing processes and products.
  • Determine the machines, equipment, tools and the sequences of operations necessary to perform production and assembly operations.
  • Recommend the design of production machines and other plant equipment.
  • Advise and assist vendors with design problems about tools, gauges and equipment designed for use in manufacturing.
  • Actively participates on teams and teammates to provide improvements in Safety, Quality, and Productivity.

Required Experience

Education:Bachelors' Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering.

Skills & Experience:

  • 4+ years of relevant manufacturing experience with a preference to automotive.
  • CAD experience is a plus.
  • Hands-on technical knowledge of metal forming, machine design, and machine fabrication.
  • Extensive experience in tool and manufacturing process development.
  • Functional understanding of Geometric Dimension and Tolerance (GD&T).
  • Working knowledge and application of structured problem solving, Lean, Six Sigma and cost savings analysis.
