Responsibilities

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Intern, Information Technology is responsible for assisting department staff in completing their objectives including: supporting PC hardware and software, and application software; assisting with help desk support; and providing end-user support in various levels. This employee strives to uphold Tabitha’s LIVE Culture, Crew Code of Conduct and actively embraces Tabitha’s Core Values. By doing so, the employee supports Tabitha goals related to the dignity, respect, independence, competence, autonomy, personal comfort, safety and security of elders/clients. In addition, the employee contributes to the success of Tabitha through ongoing collaboration with coworkers, management and others in the organization.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Supports the personal computer systems including assembly, installation, use, diagnostics, troubleshooting, and maintenance of computer hardware and peripheral equipment.
  2. Troubleshoots/problems and issues, providing resolution to supported users.
  3. Provides technical guidance on hardware equipment including setup, assistance and minor repairs.
  4. Performs tasks according to established time measures and standards.
  5. Participates as a team member to ensure that the department workloads and facility goals are met.
  6. Answers and directs telephone calls in the department.
  7. Prioritizes work load to assure that all essential functions are addressed effectively, making appropriate adjustments throughout each day and each work week to meet changing and/or competing priorities when necessary.
  8. Utilizes strength and stamina to carry out all project/essential functions safely and effectively. Willingly takes on additional duties and works as long as necessary during times of peak workload. Adaptable and flexible, capable of working collaboratively with team members to achieve overall goals and objectives.
  9. Demonstrates good judgement, excellent organizational skills and ability to adjust to changing work needs.
  10. Complies with HIPAA regulations regarding privacy by insuring that Protected Health Information (PHI) is safeguarded at all times. In addition, maintains a high level of confidentiality regarding any matter pertaining to any Tabitha elders/clients.
  11. Consistently uses strength, dexterity, agility and good body mechanics when performing essential functions. Follows appropriate safety and infection control policies and procedures of Tabitha and/or community and regulatory agencies.
  12. Assures reports of all broken and malfunctioning equipment are made in a timely manner.
  13. Follows disaster plans and uses strength and agility during participation in preparedness drills and actual emergencies and maintains a safe work environment.
  14. Follows Tabitha protocol for submission of completed documentation as it pertains to time records and all other similar documentation required by Tabitha.
  15. Completes required training and in-services promptly. Demonstrates understanding of the course content and implements training in daily activities.
  16. Performs work duties within the assigned work environment related to the position, as assigned by Tabitha, regardless of employee preference.
  17. Maintains courteous relationship with supervisors, co-workers, elders/clients, family members, loved ones, members of other departments and volunteers, providing support and assistance to co-workers to ensure quality elder/client care. Volunteers to assist others and seeks opportunities to serve elders/clients/loved ones/coworkers/Tabitha.
  18. Participates in meetings/in-services, both on a departmental level and on a company level.
  19. Maintains a good record of attendance and punctuality as defined by Tabitha’s policy pertaining to attendance and punctuality. Records all time worked accurately and consistently using the timekeeping method provided by Tabitha.
  20. Complies with Tabitha policies and procedures as published by Tabitha and which may be modified at Tabitha’s discretion. Contributes to quality assurance and performance improvement activities by identifying instances of non-compliance and taking appropriate action, including reporting violations of Tabitha policy or regulations as appropriate.
  21. Acts with integrity and in the best interest of Tabitha. Business relationships are conducted in the best interest of Tabitha, free of gifts, cash inducements, gratuities, favors, or other perceived improper inducements.
  22. Willingly completes other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

COMMUNICATION: Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand the English language as well as terminology and jargon specific to the job. Understands written and verbal instructions. Sufficient fluency to be able to hold a conversation, conduct or participate in meetings, compose professional e-mails or other written communication, complete documentation requirements of the job and interact with donors, community members, management, vendors, state officials, employees, peer coworkers, customers, volunteers and managers effectively. Ability to recognize and interpret non-verbal cues. Ability to respond calmly and clearly to emergencies and emotional situations. Ability to work with spreadsheets, software and perform complex mental tasks.

WORKSITE CONDITIONS: Works indoors in a facility maintained by Tabitha that will typically be in good repair, clean, well ventilated and well lit. Work is performed in a standard office setting. Works under daily and hourly deadlines, requiring uninterrupted periods of intense activity. Frequent exposure to interruptions and changes in priorities. Works beyond normal scheduled hours and on weekends and holidays when assigned. Is subject to extended hours or callback during emergency conditions or based upon needs of the organization.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to gain access to the work area and then safely perform the duties of the job while utilizing standard and specialized equipment, including but not limited to the equipment described below. Ability to move about the work area. Ability to work at a computer for hours at a time. Frequent periods of intense activity, but rare need for physical strength or physical exertion. Vision and hearing within normal limits (with or without correction). Must have unrestricted lift/push/pull ability and pass a 25 - pound physical exam demonstrating strength and agility prior to employment and at Tabitha’s discretion.

EQUIPMENT USAGE: Standard and specialized equipment including laptop, PC, tablet, photocopier, scanner, fax machine, elevator, projector, telephone, and television.

AGE REQUIREMENT: At least age 18.

EDUCATION: Completed 1-2 years in IT related field of study.

EXPERIENCE: Awareness of PC hardware, desktop operating system software and application software required. Awareness of the PC industry’s current and emerging technology trends and direction, as well as a keen interest in a computer based – information systems and technology required. Ability to set up PCs and perform all software installations, upgrades and protection required. Excellent analytic skills and ability to troubleshoot hardware and software issues required. One to two years in IT related experience required.

CREDENTIALS: Driver’s license and Auto Insurance at least equal to the Nebraska Statutory minimums required.
