Sr. Risk Manager, Enterprise Payments Governance Office Team Lead - McLean, VA / Richmond, VA

The Enterprise Payments team sits within the Commercial Bank but provides payments fulfillment capabilities along with governance and related services for all of Capital One. This ~150 person team plays a critical role in the operational processing, governance, and product management of the platforms enabling $4 Trillion+ in annual payment transactions.

We are looking for a new leader to run one of the most important teams in Enterprise Payments, the Payments Governance Office. This function is increasing in size and stature as the regulatory bar continues to rise and our push to being well-managed continues.

The Payments Governance Office establishes accountabilities and standards across the payments ecosystem and owns and monitors adherence to an end-to-end governance framework. This leader will be instrumental in helping us drive our well-managed agenda and ensure that we are well-positioned to support a growing and more sophisticated set of payments channels. In this role, you will partner heavily with the Payments Operations teams, Payments Initiation team across the Enterprise, the Commercial Risk Office, and 2nd and 3rd line partners. There will also be a strong partnership with external entities such as the the National Automated Clearing House Association (NACHA).

In this role you will lead a team of 3-4 associates. A strong people leader will be needed to lead this multi-level team.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree or Military Experience

• At least 3 years of experience in Risk Management

• At least 3 years of experience in People Management

• At least 1 year of experience in Process Management

Preferred Qualifications:

• Masters Degree in Industrial Engineering, Process Engineering, Process Management, Systems Engineering, Management, Business or Business Administration (MBA)

• Process or Project Management Certification (i.e. Lean, Six Sigma, PMP), Business Management Certification

• Experience standing up or running a governance function

• At least 5 years of experience in Risk Management

• At least 5 years of experience in People Management
