Derivative Operations Associate - Commodities & Foreign Exchange Middle Office

Derivative Operations is a part of Capital One's Commercial Bank Operations. This organization is responsible for ensuring efficient and accurate transaction processing across a broad range of derivative products.
The Derivative Operations - Commodities & FX Middle Office teams are responsible for Trade Capture and Sales Support for Commodities & FX derivative products. Partnership with the business, derivatives trading and other operational teams to support the full derivative life cycle is a critical function of both teams. The role is New York City-based; however, you will interact with regional teams and a broad base of domestic counterparties.
Responsibilities:
Be an active participant in the standing up of the Commodities and FX Derivative Middle Office
Book/amend financial commodity derivative trades into the booking system (CXL and WSS)
Liaison with the Bank's Client and Wall Street dealers to make sure trades are affirmed by Trade Date +1
Report Real Time & Primary Economic terms to the SDR in compliance with Dodd Frank rules (ICE & DTCC)
Perform daily trade bookings/checkouts with Front Office
Tie out, analyze and obtain 3rd party support for daily marks
Generate, analyze and submit for approval daily Flash P&L reports
Run system End of Day Process
Manage and update system reference data
Familiarity with Cleared trades and FCM processing
Liaison with the Settlement team on all cash flow items
Assist the Settlements team in chasing/following-up and resolving client's outstanding payments
Liaison with Valuation, Accounting and Risk teams to make sure the portfolio is correctly marked
Work closely with the Back Office on Trade Confirmations details
Ensure required systems, agreements, and other resources are established both internally and externally to support the transaction.
Increase industry knowledge through daily and monthly reviews of external publications and internal research reports
Stay abreast of regulatory changes impacting commodities industry
Develop relationships with external clients to gain market understanding and awareness
Proactively seek appropriate internal or external training to maintain professional expertise.
Cross-train team members and internal clients to ensure appropriate coverage and proficiency
Formulate and document user requirements and procedures to implement functional solutions to technical systems and improve or automate daily processes
Provide a variety of internal support functions relating to the confirmation, payment, documentation and exceptional treatment of all transactions included in the commodity portfolio
Develop and participate in the daily management of controls and procedures
Provide superior internal and external client services in all areas of interaction
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree or Military Experience
At least 1 year of experience working in a Capital Markets Middle Office or at least 1 year of experience in a Capital Markets Back Office
Preferred Qualifications:
At least 2 years of experience with Commodity or Foreign Exchange Products
Proficient with Microsoft Office Excel (V-lookup, Pivot Tables, or Macro) or Google Suites
Strong written and oral communication skills
Experience with OCR, Python, RPA, AI, or data mining
Experience with Salesforce, Wall Street Systems, or TriplePoint CXL
