Join Cardno's Science and Environment team in Santa Barbara, CA to play a role in reviewing of utility projects for potential environmental impacts and collaboration with a large interdisciplinary team of scientists to complete clearances

Job Description:

Cardno is looking for a Wildlife Biologist in our Santa Barbara, CA office to assist a diverse team of accomplished environmental scientists, including engineers, biologists, ecologists, archeologists, and planners on a variety of projects in Southern California out of our Santa Barbara, California office. Primary responsibilities include review of utility projects for potential environmental impacts and collaboration with a large interdisciplinary team of scientists to complete clearances.

Responsibilities include the following:

> Obtain clearance through client background check to access online system (upon employment).

> Comply with all Cardno and client policies including those related to safety, anti-harassment, and drug use.

> Review client requests for environmental clearance to ensure they provide information.

> Conduct desktop reviews for environmental clearance work and ensure reviews or surveys are completed by Cardno staff or subcontractors according to client schedule.

> Engagement in the process and willingness to identify process improvements to provide benefit to our client.

> Complete desktop reviews to determine appropriate levels and types of environmental reviews needed for new projects.

> Must be authorized to work in U.S. without company sponsorship.

Basic Qualifications:

> less than 3 years experience. 2 or more years of consulting experience.

> Bachelor's degree (or higher) in biology, ecology, environmental studies or related field.

> Network with Cardno and subcontractor staff.

> Proficient in computer software including, MS word, and multiple Cardno and client systems.

> Simultaneously work on and projects.

> Work in multiple field conditions within California for multiple weeks.

> Must be physically fit and able to navigate rugged conditions on foot (day and night surveys may be required).

> GIS (Arc View)

> Experience with desktop analysis for determination of field survey needs for projects

> Field survey experience including for wildlife/ plant species/ wetlands.
