Job/Internship Description

Background:

Management Sciences for Health (MSH), a global nonprofit organization, partners with governments, civil society, the private sector, and health care workers to build resilient and sustainable health systems. Our mission is saving lives and improving the health of the world's poorest and most vulnerable people by closing the gap between knowledge and action in public health.

MSH has published the International Medical Products Price Guide since 1986, with the most recent data update in 2015. The Guide contains a spectrum of prices from pharmaceutical suppliers, international development organizations, and government agencies. It aims to make price information more widely available in order to improve procurement of medical products of assured quality for the lowest possible price. MSH currently seeks to understand demand for the Price Guide and similar resources in the market.

Responsibilities:

The student will support an MSH team in conducting a desktop landscape assessment of the medical product pricing space, demand for the Price Guide in its current format, and opportunities for sustaining the resource moving forward.

Expected activities include:

  • Identify and research similar resources/online platforms;
  • Assist in exploring the demand for the Price Guide in its current format and need for reconfiguration and additional content and capabilities
  • Examine and summarize utilization metrics from the Price Guide site;
  • Identify and document other potential sources of data inputs to the Price Guide (especially online, real time databases); and
  • Support the development of sustainability plan options.

Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate or graduate student in Public Health, Public Policy, or similar degree program
  • Experience in the use of Microsoft applications to include: MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. Experience with Google analytics preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal, coordination and team building skills.


Expected student takeaways:

Student will better understand the global health and international development landscape, specifically regarding pharmaceutical and medical product landscape and pricing.

- Internship candidates must be full or part-time students earning university credit for their internship.
- This is an unpaid internship.
- Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this internship will be entirely remote.
