National Railroad Passenger Corporation (Amtrak) has an opening for a Principal Applications Systems Engineer in Washington DC

Job Duties: Responsible for the design, development, enhancement and support for multiple IT eCommerce and Mobile applications. Drive complex projects, providing design, setting standards, working with business, technical and operations team, and responding to change and trouble tickets. Provide innovative and strategic technical direction to support Amtrak's vision. Monitor platform for failures, exceptions and threshold issues. Tune and optimize applications performance. Test applications for product upgrades and patches. Communicate with customers and upper management about the platform and/or ticket status, and work on occasional minor enhancements. Collaborate with stakeholders to understand the business requirements that drive analysis and design of quality technical solutions. These solutions must be aligned with business and IT strategies and are in compliance with the organization's architectural standards. Develop and maintain scripts to automate deployment and other tasks.

Requirements: Employer will accept Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Computer Information Systems, or a related field, followed by seven years of progressive, post-baccalaureate work experience in job offered or seven years of progressive, post-baccalaureate work experience in a related occupation. Experience must include: (1) 7 years of IT experience developing revenue generating ecommerce systems in passenger rail reservation domain; (2) develop eCommerce application using Adobe Experience Manager, Adobe Analytics, Adobe Target, Adobe DTM/Launch, Angular, Java/J2EE and database level application troubleshooting; (3) design and building high availability cloud environments; (4) WebSphere, JBoss, Tomcat; (5) leverage CI/CD tools such as Jenkins; (6) deploy and support of applications in Cloud environment; (7) production applications development/support; (8) SDLC and Agile methodologies for enterprise level applications; and (9) scripting and maintaining build environments. This position requires pre-employment background verification, medical review and pre-employment drug screen.
