Job Description

Functions as a lead worker in cleaning and maintaining of buildings and surrounding grounds. Ensures cleanliness and orderliness of assigned areas. May be required to move furniture and equipment.

Essential Functions
  • Leads, assigns, reviews, and approves the work of other custodial personnel engaged in cleaning and maintaining building interiors and surrounding grounds.
  • Maintains attendance records and completes routine forms.
  • Requests, receives and accounts for supplies and materials.
  • Trains new employees in the performance of cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, scrubbing, waxing, buffing and operating hand and power cleaning tools.
  • Organizes rug extraction and carpet shampooing equipment and cleans carpets.
  • Inspects assigned areas and reports cleaning or building disorders to superior.
  • Performs all the duties of Custodial Worker I.
  • Performs and promotes all activities in compliance with equal employment and nondiscrimination policies; follows federal laws, state laws, school board's policies and the professional standards.

Desired Qualifications
  • Completion of the eighth grade.
  • One year of cleaning and custodial experience.
  • Valid Maryland Noncommercial Class C or equivalent driver's license may be required for some positions.
  • Knowledge of the methods, materials and techniques of cleaning and custodial work.
  • Knowledge of basic safety practices and procedures.
  • Skill in the operation and use power and hand cleaning tools and equipment.
  • Ability to train and interact effectively with others.
  • Ability to read, write, and to complete and maintain routine forms.
  • Ability to work with chemicals and cleaning solutions.
