Job Description

Utility Locating Technician works closely with the Utility Locating Operator and crew determining the location of buried utilities. This is a great opportunity to learn a new skill, become proficient in utility locating and the operation of vacuum excavation equipment.  We are creative problem solvers who enjoy supporting our clients, helping them meet project objectives safely and efficiently.

RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Utility Locator Technician, you will determine the presence of underground utilities using electromagnetic locating equipment on various sites in the Washington Metro area.

• Read and interpret utility maps/prints to identify the type and size of underground utilities.
• Operate different electronic detection equipment to locate and mark underground facilities within prescribed accuracy limits.
• Provide accurate documentation and or sketches related to work performed using Insight developed app on the company-issued mobile device.
• Perform work in all weather conditions, during normal and after hours.
• May perform vacuum excavation using state-of-the-art soft dig technology.
• Other tasks as assigned.

PHYSICAL ABILITIES

Regular use of hands and fingers to operate specialized equipment and tools; reaching overhead above the shoulders and horizontally; bending at the waist; standing and or walking for extended periods of time; hearing and speaking to exchange information; carrying 3-5 lb. electronic locating equipment for extended periods of time; lifting objects up to 50 pounds or lifting in excess of 50 lbs.
